Success Stories Real world success stories firsthand from our users. From: Russ Jackson Truly, I find this one of the most useful programs on my computer. There is so much information out there that I need to keep track of. Before, I would use bookmarks and would copy things into text files, etc. But the text files were hard to find, and the bookmarks would get outdated, and then I wouldn't remember why I was bookmarking them in the first place. Keeping them in a searchable database is awesome! In short, your product is absolutely wonderful and just keeps getting better. I think it's a hard thing to describe what it does, but once you use it, you feel lost without it. Thanks!!! From: Anthony Yeats, Cambridge Earth Sciences Limited Neville, Firstly many thanks for your prompt and positive response to my (and I am sure many others') request. I have downloaded the new extension and it works immediately like a dream. This sort of polite question, positive response and then action is just how it ought to be. Great. Secondly, I am a private consultant in the oil and gas industry - a geologist retired from a career with the Majors. My basic selling point is to be able to give Companies sound advice, also to be able to advise investors as to the strength and weaknesses of certain companies. Finally I try to act as a translator/marriage counsellor between the technical and financial oil and gas worlds. All these roles depend on data. The data/knowledge I have in my head and that which I am able to cull on a daily basis. I have a need to be able to respond to such questions as: "What do you suppose Company XYZ is doing in such and such a country and why? Will it be successful?" Using Surfulater I store any stories related to the oil and gas industry on the internet more or less randomly. I can then compile all articles relating to a country, a basin, an exploration play or a company. Then with a bit of cut and stick and a modicum of thought and experience I can put together a text which is up to date, responds to the question, and is rapid. There are other ways of doing the same - a google search for example. But a general search produces a lot of garbage for the few gems and who knows whether all the articles are still live. People are always impressed by a rapid response, a focussed synthesis with some solid information in the article. I am also Parish Clerk and very much involved in local conservation work and so again I can preserve references I come across in those subjects and am able to give the impression of great efficiency as well as great knowledge. In my latter days with a Major I kept a large data base such as this based on Adobe Acrobat. It was unstructured but everything of possible interest to that exercise was preserved in pdf and again it allowed me to be sure I had recovered all the informal data we had come across when responding to enquiries. This is now how I am using Surfulater. I hope this helps you a little - you certainly help me a lot. regards Tony Yeats From: Arlen Schif, Breeze Chasers Being a somewhat obsessive online researcher by nature, over the years I've collected a dozen binders full of printed material and thousands of bookmarks, and that system has failed me time and again. I can never find what I need when I need it, or the information just evaporates as websites disappear. Managing the various articles, news clips, forum posts and other information I collect in any useful manner has always been a huge challenge - one I'd never found a satisfactory solution for. Surfulator now provides me with that solution, in a very usable package, allowing me to organize, edit, add notes and cross-reference in a way that works for my specific needs. I use it for a lot of business research, and in researching a broad range of interests and personal hobbies. It is extremely helpful to have a permanent and easily organized place to store and retrieve this wealth of info. I have also used Surfulator to virtually detail my entire business plan through a deep hierarchical set of task lists - the tree is key to this use. All in all I'm very happy with Surfulator, it's a great tool I've come
to rely on heavily, and I've really only scratched the surface of how
I hope to use it in the future. I appreciate your open door policy a
lot - your direct from the developer customer service - as well as the
free upgrade as you make new functions available. It really does set
you apart in a very good way in my opinion. I hope that strategy proves
to be a profitable one, your work is appreciated, and you deserve all
success. Arlen From: Stephane Grenier, LandlordMax Software Inc. I'm the founder of LandlordMax Property Management Software. Running a company is not a simple task as many of you know or can imagine. Part of my job of running my company is to give it direction for the future. To do this, I often end up doing a lot of research online, reading a lot of articles about customer service, software development, marketing, sales, general business, etc. Basically I read on a lot of diverse business and real estate related topics. Anyone who's been online for a while can really appreciate Surfulater. Favorites/bookmarks are a good start, but they don't really work. There are two big problems with favorites/bookmarks. First and most importantly, websites go away and/or are changed over time. Maybe yesterday you found this great website that you bookmarked that suddenly disappeared for you today. That's the most frustrating thing for me! Another issue for me personally is that I can't properly search through my list of favorites/bookmarks. Yes, I can search based on the title, but I can't search based on the content. I often remember parts of the content much more than the titles. For example an article on a new marketing method where I only remember the name of the new marketing method. Or an article on how to improve software testing where I can only remember the author, the date, or a part of the article. With Surfulater I was able to completely get rid of these two problems. Now when I find something I like, I bring it over to Surfulater. This way I know the article will not go away and I can easily sort, and find it later. If I calculate the cost of my time wasted on dealing with these problems versus the price of Surfulater, I make back multiple of the money I invested in purchasing it! Great job Neville, great product, and great Service! Stephane From: Robert Lansdale, Okino Computer Graphics, Inc. Over the last 2 months I have downloaded over 2 dozen PIM programs, and scruntinzed them from top to bottom. I had very specific, yet simple, requirements in mind. The first night I started I came across links to myBase, Onfolio, Content Saver and Netsnippets. Over the next 2 months I found more and more PIMs, and read anything and everything I could to find about PIMs since none of them basically had the succinct feature set I was looking for. There are many good PIMs, but as others have said, there has never been one single PIM with all options. But as of tonight I went and removed all 2 dozen PIMs from my machine and purchased Surfulator. Regards, Robert. From: Gerry Macabuhay Thanks Neville! Your software is a really great help for me. I am using Surfulater for lots of things. I use it to store computer hardware reviews, to categorize my downloaded programming codes and tips. I also use it to organize interesting topics on programming forums I'm currently subscribed to. Before I used Surfulater, I had to manually save web pages and documents,
manually create folders and save it. Now, everything's all in one place
and searching is amazingly fast as well. From: Ken Cooper Ive been testing tools like Surfulater and finally decided that yours is the one to go with. Why? Because it fits nicely into the way I naturally organize information. I didnt have to change my behavior much to make it work for me. And while other such tools have similar features, I found Surfulater faster and easier to use. I like the fact that its not embedded in my web browser, so it wont interfere with it nor will it take up more window space with yet another toolbar. What else I like are your future plans to provide even more features. I cant wait! A product is only as good as the people behind itand youre definitely behind it. Keep it up! Testimonials
